I need to find a good massage chair.?

Written by admin on Aug 28th, 2008 | Filed under: Health Massage Chair Q & A

I have a bad back - so rather than have my husband rub my back every night, we aggreed to look into finding a nice massage chair that isn’t tacky. Heat, vibration, and rollers that move up and down would be nice. If anyone can find some good options - with links, etc, I would really appreciate it, especially if you can find one that is blue or khaki. There is 10 points for the best answer & options. Thank you!

My mom has one that we got at sharper image you might want to try there?

I got a Shiatsu massage yesterday and my back is so sore. What can I do?¿?

Written by admin on Aug 28th, 2008 | Filed under: Health Massage Chair Q & A

Someone told me something a long time ago abut having a salt bath, but I cant remember if it was episom salts or sea salts. I cant remember. My doctor told me to get it done, but I'm very sore today.(It was my first massage, and my muscles were extremily tight)
Thanks everybody.
I hope I dont have any bruising. My doctor said I should have a massage often, because of my chronic migraines, I hope it wont hurt all the time like this. I imagine it will get better as I get more.
Mojo your crazy LOL.

thats not uncommon, especially for your first massage. hopefully you wont have brusing. epsom salt bath is good, it will help along with the warm bath will relax your muscles. you can take advil or ibuprofin up to 800 mg every 4-6hr as long as you can take it. drink ALOT of water, you need to flush your system out, you probably have and will have a lot of toxins running through your body. try not to have as deep of a massage next time, start out a little slower and build up as you go along with your massages.

What is the difference between a Thai massage and a Shiatsu massage?

Written by admin on Aug 28th, 2008 | Filed under: Health Massage Chair Q & A

I understand that one is from Thailand and one is from Japan, but what are the essential differences? And which one will be better for removing tension from my upper back and neck?

While both types of massage are done on a mat lying on the floor, Shiatsu works the meridian points through accupressure. Thai works the body through yoga poses. Like art, everyone has their preferences. You really must try them ALL out to determine which massage is the most beneficial to you. There are over 250 different types of body work, all of which claim to relieve stress and tension everywhere.

Happy hunting!

What does the Shiatsu massage focus on?

Written by admin on Aug 28th, 2008 | Filed under: Health Massage Chair Q & A

I bought my mom a 200 dollar massage gift certificate. She wants mostly her back. What does Shiatsu focus on mostly?

Shiatsu is the use of the fingers and hands to apply pressure to specific points on the body. These massages are performed fully clothed and often on a mat on the floor. Usually the goal is to balance the body as a whole with focus on specific problem areas.

If your mom is looking for a full body massage with deep focus on her back, she may want to look at a Swedish Massage based treatment. This kind of massage is more like what you see represented on tv or in photos of "massage".

Since massage is such an individual therapy, it can vary from one practioner to another. What one may call "Shiatsu" may be the genuine Japanese form, or it may be a westernized Shiatsu-based treatment. There really is no "wrong" way to massage, but it's easier to choose your treatment when you know exactly what to expect.

One of the absolute best ways to pick a massage is to speak with the practioner. Have your mom call the business you got the certificate to and just explain that she's trying to choose a treatment. All she needs to do is describe that she'd like a massage with a great deal of focus on her back. The business will be able to explain the treatment options and help her choose her favorite.

Can you use a massage chair during late pregnancy and labor?

Written by admin on Aug 28th, 2008 | Filed under: Health Massage Chair Q & A

Hi ladies, I was just wondering if it is safe to use a massage chair during the last few weeks of prenancy (im 38 weeks) and also while you are in labor? I have one at home and use it every now and then but it seems to get the baby moving a lot. I also took a hospital tour and they had a spa tub and massage chair but one of the nurses said the massage chair cant be used during labor due to the electrical currents or something. She said it was there for the support people or the nurses to use. I dont believe her and just wondered if anyones hospital had one to use and if you used it.

I think the nurse is correct. Some doctors also will tell you not to use an electric blanket. This was found to be a problem back in the mid-90s for some women and rather than risk it, they recommend that no pregnant women use them. Many massage chairs say right on the chair that they are not to be used by pregnant women. It is the electric current, not the vibration, that is the perceived problem.

What would I have to do to set up a "booth" in which to give chair massage outside a business?

Written by admin on Aug 28th, 2008 | Filed under: Health Massage Chair Q & A

I live in North Idaho and am taking a Massage Therapy course in Washington. What are the requirements for massaging in Idaho? And what would I have to do to go about giving chair massage as a simple side job?

I know that you are not required to be licensed in Idaho, but I would like to know if there are ANY laws at all that would prevent me from doing this.

Thanks in advance!

Just need a business license. Then your ready to go.
